Demo Day was a great event! Thanks to everyone who came out on such a hot day.

There was over 60 divers trying the latest gear from Oceanic and Hollis. Joey Brown of Oceanic said it was one of the busiest Demo Days he has ever done. Congratulations to everyone who won a raffle prize.  One lucky winner went home with a new Geo Dive Computer thanks to Joey Brown of Oceanic.

Jon Conway from Hollis was showing the newest gear from Hollis.  Hollis, a newer company started by Bob Hollis (Oceanic) has great technical gear plus some excellent recreational equipment as well.

Jon says he comes to Demo Day for Danny's jerk Chicken, but I know he also loves to talk tech with all of our divers. Hollis has some innovative backplates and wings that ... Read More »

I certainly hope everyone has had a great holiday. I celebrated peacefully with my son Christian. We had a wonderful time as usual.  In holiday tradition, we were off the scout camp between Christmas and new years. Scout camp is a little less "peaceful" but a wonderful time for fathers and sons to spend time, earn merit badges and enjoy the outdoor life.

On new years eve, friends from Arizona were in town on a stop to there final destination, the Cayman Aggressor. Danny Jetmore was kind enough to cook up a wonderful dinner and we ate at a picnic table next to Hudson Grotto.

Over the next month a lot of new stuff will be announced at Scuba West. One very cool thing I can tell you about right now is our new travel program with Dream Weaver Travel. Dream Weaver out of Colorado has been offering ... Read More »

We barely survived...two full days of "Tent Sale" madness....divers everywhere...deals galore...smiles on everyone's face and my feet are still tired and sore.
There was gear outside...there was gear inside...by the way, the secret of our tent sales (this was our third) is that we have never had a tent! Tent's cost money and our mission was to keep the prices at rock bottom so that you save!

I can't tell you how many people came out because we were packed almost constantly. I do know that everyone had a lot of fun whether you were browsing, find that one piece you needed or getting a brand new kit.  There was something for everyone.

Thanks to Danny Jetmore, Rich Humber, Alicia and Kevin Schryver and Paul Gonzales for their generous help during the sale.& ... Read More »

We just had our first meeting of the Scuba West Dive Team...and it was great!  We have 20 area divers signed up and ten attended the first meeting.
Thanks again to Paul Gonzales,,our local photo pro, who gave a wonderful presentation on digital photography.

Our group is more than a dive club.  It is a group of fun and friendly people who want to dive. Scuba West assists them in diving locally or on exotic trips, have parties, and enjoy each others company.

It's easy to join. An annual membership fee of $19.95 (and you receive 3 air fills and 1 grotto entry).  Stop in and we can tell you more.

Now I want to tell you about the Scuba Olympics.  Our local dive retailers group (PADO- ... Read More »

Thanks to everyone who attended our 40th anniversary celebration!  We had approximately 150 people come out for a day of fun to celebrate with us.
Some of the highlights were John Moore from 107.3 The new Eagle radio doing, for the first time ever, an underwater broadcast!

We were also honored by having with us Jo Ann Hettel and Paul Heinerth. Jo Ann and her late husband Chuck were the founders of Scuba West and Paul Heinerth worked with them until he purchased the center.  Paul operated Scuba West for 29 years until he sold it in 2006.

Brian Jung from AquaLung was on hand to help our divers test dive some of AquaLungs coolest gear, the Pro QD I3 and the Sling Shot fins.

The day was completed wit ... Read More »

I just got back from Boy Scout Camp....I lived through  4 days.....the camp is 7 days....I don't know how other adults can make it the other 3 days!

But it was fun.  My 14 year old loved every minute.  I am a proud dad of a One Mile Swim recipient.   I even talked scuba there.  The Boys Scouts embrace a love for scuba and some of the leaders are PADI Instructors. The whole week I was thinking about the fact that the summer is in full bloom and the water is warm...it's a great time to dive.

We still have a couple of openings is our scuba camp 2008.  Our last week of scuba camp will be for already certified divers who would like to earn their Advanced Open water rating.  As a bonus, they will get a digital underwater photography special ... Read More »
